About ThrowGRID
A small operation making the display system we wanted for our own collection and couldn't buy anywhere.
Yo-yo collections have an awkward shape problem. A throw is too small to look like anything on its own shelf and too interesting to live in a drawer, so most collections end up in a plastic tub, a display case built for something else, or a row along a windowsill that nobody dares dust.
ThrowGRID started as a fix for exactly that, printed for one shelf. The first version was a single cube. The useful idea came later: if the cubes could join to each other, the display would never need replacing — it would just grow whenever the collection did.
That constraint has driven every part since. A new part only ships if it works with every part that came before it, in every colour. It's the reason there is no "version 2" of the cube, and there won't be one.
It also grew into a range of sizes for the same reason. A 4A offstring throw will not fit a box built for a 1A, and a kendama fits neither — so there are three cube sizes, all designed to align in the same grid.

ThrowGRID is a hobby product, not a company. It is a few printers, people with day jobs, and evenings spent packing boxes. We are starting out.
Practically, that means orders take days rather than hours, the range grows slowly, add-ons we want to make are still on the roadmap rather than the shelf, and now and then we will get something wrong. We would rather say all of that plainly than pretend to be a warehouse and disappoint you.
In exchange: a real person reads your email, parts get made to fit the throws you actually own, and the system will still be compatible with itself years from now.
How they're made
Everything is 3D printed in PETG on our own Bambu Lab machines, in batches, in the room where the design work happens. PETG rather than PLA because it holds its shape in a warm room and on a sunlit wall — a display piece that sags in July is not a display piece.
Parts come off the bed, get checked by hand, and get packed in plain recyclable kraft card with no plastic filler. There's no warehouse and no injection mould, which is the honest reason orders take a few days rather than shipping same-day.
